Aditya Dhar to make Dhurandhar 3?

According to a report in Variety India, Jio Studios has reportedly urged Aditya Dhar to being work on Dhurandhar 3. The report stated that seeing the advance booking for 'Dhurandar: The Revenge', the makers are exploring the idea of expanding the universe even further. As per the report, the studio has urged Aditya Dhar, the director of the 'Dhurandhar' franchise, to develop 'Dhurandhar 3' as well.

Amid the massive success of Dhurandhar and the unprecedented buzz around its sequel, reports suggest the franchise could expand further with a potential third instalment. Sources indicate that director Aditya Dhar already has a concept in mind for the next chapter, though no official commitment has been made yet. Meanwhile, the studio is keen to capitalise on the growing hype and has reportedly urged Dhar to include a post-credit tease in Dhurandhar 2—a strategic move aimed at building anticipation and keeping audiences hooked for a possible third film.

Interestingly, director Aditya Dhar is reportedly not fully on board with turning Dhurandhar into a long-running franchise. Known for experimenting with fresh narratives, Dhar is said to prefer challenging himself with new projects rather than repeating the same formula, which he reportedly finds “plainly boring.”

The report highlights that Dhurandhar became a hit precisely because it broke away from the typical templates seen in the YRF Spy Universe and mainstream South Indian action films—something Dhar may not want to compromise by following trends he has now disrupted.

Meanwhile, Aditya Dhar has signed a multi-project deal with the studio and is already eyeing his next big venture. While details remain under wraps, he is reportedly keen to reunite with Ranveer Singh for a large-scale mythological action adventure, with scripting likely to begin by the end of this year.
