Dhurandhar 2 opened to strong buzz on Wednesday following its paid previews a day earlier, but the experience turned chaotic for several moviegoers in Noida.

While shows were cancelled at multiple theatres across India, one screening at a Noida multiplex was abruptly stopped after the interval, leaving audiences stranded and frustrated.

According to a Hindustan Times report, the incident took place at PVR Superplex in DLF Mall of India during the 5:45 pm show on March 18. After the first half, what was meant to be a 10-minute interval stretched into an indefinite delay. Viewers were informed of a “technical glitch” but were given no clear timeline for the film to resume.

As the delay dragged on for hours, tempers began to rise. The situation worsened when preparations reportedly began for a 10 pm screening in another auditorium, even as the earlier audience continued waiting without updates.

Angry viewers started raising slogans against the multiplex, accusing the management of poor handling and lack of transparency. Despite the disruption, the theatre allegedly continued selling popcorn and cold drinks. One attendee claimed he spent nearly Rs 2,000 on food during the delay.

With tensions escalating inside the theatre, authorities called in the police to manage the crowd. Eventually, all screenings were cancelled, leaving moviegoers disappointed over the handling of the situation.

Refunds have reportedly been issued to all affected viewers.

Meanwhile, Dhurandhar 2 has released across nearly 9,000 shows nationwide. The film has already collected around Rs 24 crore on its opening day, taking its total (including paid previews) to approximately Rs 75 crore. Trade analysts expect collections to grow further over the weekend.

The film features an ensemble cast including Ranveer Singh, Sara Arjun, Arjun Rampal, R Madhavan, Sanjay Dutt, and Rakesh Bedi. The sequel had generated significant pre-release buzz, and that anticipation appears to be translating into strong footfalls. Once screenings stabilise and word-of-mouth spreads, the film is expected to post an even bigger opening phase.
