YouTuber Dhruv Rathee on Monday criticised podcaster Ranveer Allahbadia for his crude remarks on comedian Samay Raina’s show India’s Got Latent. Taking to X (formerly Twitter), Rathee expressed his disapproval of content that relies on shock value, stating that it negatively impacts young audiences.

Rathee, known for his strong opinions, condemned the growing trend of offensive content under the guise of comedy. He stated that he has always been against abusive and vulgar language, pointing out that in the thousands of videos, shorts, and reels he has made, there is not a single instance of him using offensive words for anyone.

Taking a firm stance on the state of online content, Rathee criticised what he called “dank comedy,” arguing that its only purpose is to shock and disgust audiences for views. He expressed concern over its negative impact on the moral development of young people. However, he made it clear that government censorship was not the solution.

“Calling for any govt bans for this is not the solution as it may usher in a harsh censorship regime,” he explained. Instead, he suggested that content creators should be pressured into producing better content.

Rathee also compared India’s Got Latent to films like Animal, arguing that both contribute to the moral decline of society. He stressed that such content should be called out in strong terms to prevent further degradation.

Ranveer Allahbadia’s Apology

His comments came just hours after Ranveer Allahbadia issued a public apology for his remarks. In a video message, Allahbadia admitted that his comments were not only inappropriate but also not funny.

“Comedy is not my forte. I am just here to say sorry. I am not going to give any context or justification or reasoning behind whatever happened. I am just here to apologise,” he said, acknowledging a lapse in judgment.

Notably, Dhruv Rathee was among the earliest guests on The Ranveer Show in 2021, making his criticism of Allahbadia even more significant. His remarks have reignited discussions on the responsibility of content creators in shaping public discourse.
