India wicketkeeper-batter Dhruv Jurel dedicated his special century celebration in the Colombo Test to his family, revealing that his ‘Jai Jawan, Jai Kisan’ tattoo reflects his roots. Jurel explained that his father served in the Army, while his grandfather was a farmer.

“My grandfather was a farmer, and my father was a soldier. So, those are my roots, and I don't want to forget them. So, that salute should go to my father and grandfather,” Jurel said after the day's play.

Jurel’s Century Takes India Past 500

Jurel remained unbeaten on 115 as India declared at 503/9 on the second day of the second Test against Sri Lanka in Colombo. His innings was built around patience and controlled batting as India gained a commanding position in the match. Jurel’s second Test century, along with Devdutt Padikkal’s century and Rishabh Pant’s half-century, helped India cross the 500-run mark.

Sri Lanka were then left struggling at 8/2 by the end of the day, with debutant Kamil Mishara unbeaten on 5. The hosts still trailed India by 495 runs.
