Fans eager to catch Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no YaibaInfinity Castle at home may have to wait much longer than expected. A new trailer for the blockbuster anime film has confirmed that it will remain exclusive to theaters throughout 2025, dashing hopes for an early OTT or home release.

The film, which premiered in Japan earlier this year, has smashed box-office records — becoming one of the most successful anime movies in Japanese history and a major hit in U.S. theaters as well. Owing to its massive success, the producers have decided to keep it on the big screen for as long as possible.

The latest trailer, featuring intense battle scenes between Tanjiro and Akaza, makes it clear that Infinity Castle won’t be available for streaming or digital purchase until at least 2026. This was further confirmed by Mitchel Berger, Executive Vice President of Global Commerce at Crunchyroll, who said,

“If you want to see Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle, the theater is the only place you’ll be able to watch it in 2025.”

However, the decision has frustrated many fans, as the movie is now showing in fewer theaters and may be replaced by other anime releases in some regions.

Adding to the disappointment, this long theatrical window could also delay the rest of the Demon Slayer trilogy. The release schedule for the second film remains unannounced, and given the extended run of the first, updates may not arrive until 2026 — pushing the sequel’s release even further, possibly to 2027.

Infinity Castle OTT Release Date

Judging by the release pattern of previous anime films, Infinity Castle will likely make its streaming debut on Crunchyroll, Sony’s anime platform. Typically, the studio takes about four to five months to bring its theatrical releases online. For instance, Spy x Family Code: White premiered in April 2024 and began streaming on Crunchyroll in September, while Haikyu!! The Movie hit theaters in May and joined the platform by late October. If the same timeline is followed, Infinity Castle could arrive on Crunchyroll between late January and mid-February 2026, according to Forbes.

In the meantime, all four seasons of Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba—including the hit Mugen Train arc—are available for streaming on both Crunchyroll and Netflix, with options for subbed and dubbed versions.

While Netflix remains a top pick among Indian viewers, Crunchyroll has been actively engaging the fanbase. Ahead of Infinity Castle’s release, the platform even hosted a free YouTube livestream of the entire series in August, giving fans a perfect chance to relive Tanjiro’s journey before the next chapter unfolds.
