The highly anticipated Japanese dark fantasy action film Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle hit Indian theatres today, September 12, 2025, and has already created history at the box office. The film has recorded massive advance bookings, raking in close to ₹9–10 crore before its release and becoming the first anime movie in India to premiere with 5 AM shows.

Released by Sony Pictures Entertainment in collaboration with Crunchyroll, the film is witnessing unprecedented demand, with over 3.5 lakh tickets already sold on ticketing platforms. Industry trackers report that the movie has sold tickets worth approximately ₹8.76 crore across 2,793 shows on opening day alone. Some estimates even put the advance booking figures closer to ₹10 crore, setting a new benchmark for anime films in India.



With a wide release across more than 750 screens nationwide, Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle is expected to gross around ₹15 crore over the weekend, making it one of the biggest openings for a non-Indian film this year. The film is screening in five languages — Japanese (with English subtitles), English, Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu — ensuring a wider reach among audiences.

Directed by Haruo Sotozaki, Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle adapts the popular Infinity Castle arc from Koyoharu Gotouge’s Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba manga series (2016–2020). The story follows Tanjiro, Nezuko, and the elite Hashira warriors as they confront the terrifying Upper Rank demons inside the Infinity Castle, leading to an epic showdown with the series’ main antagonist, Muzan Kibutsuji.

The combination of a fan-favorite storyline, record-breaking advance sales, and historic early morning shows has made this release a landmark moment for anime in India.
