Delhi woman returning from office says two men on a bike chased her, crashed into her scooty and left her badly injured, needing plastic surgery

A 21-year-old woman working at an office in Saket has alleged that two unidentified men on a motorcycle stalked and harassed her before ramming their bike into her scooty near Panchsheel Park metro station in south Delhi, leaving her with severe injuries, reports TOI.

The woman said she left work around midnight on September 11 and was riding home when the incident took place. She was crossing Hauz Khas and approaching Panchsheel Park metro station when, according to her complaint, two men in their twenties began passing remarks at her and then started following her on their bike.

What happened on the road that night


She said she tried to get away by speeding up, but the men kept chasing her, rode up alongside her scooty and continued passing remarks. Then, she alleged, they hit her scooter with their motorcycle. She lost control and fell, skidding for around 100 to 150 metres on a stretch of road covered with stones, gravel and dust. She suffered deep cuts, heavy bleeding and extensive skin injuries in the fall.

Passersby who saw her arranged an ambulance, and her colleagues reached the spot soon after she shared her live location with them. She was first taken to Max Hospital in Saket and later shifted to Medanta Hospital in Noida, where doctors advised plastic surgery because of how serious her injuries were.

How the case reached the police

Police said the first information they got about the incident was a call reporting a road accident, not a case of stalking or harassment. A PCR call came in around 1 am on September 12 at Hauz Khas police station. The officer who went to check found no injured person at the spot and later learnt the woman had already been taken to Max Hospital in Saket.

By the time police reached the hospital, she had already been discharged at her own request. When they contacted her again, she told them she was on her way to Medanta Hospital in Noida for further treatment. Police later found out she had left for her hometown to continue her recovery there.

Investigators went through CCTV footage from the area around the reported spot to check her account, but they could not trace the alleged incident in any of the available visuals. On September 14, the woman's cousin came to the police station and was shown the footage, but she too could not identify either the woman or the two accused men in it.

Lawyer's complaint leads to FIR

A complaint was then filed on September 15 by a lawyer who said he was representing the woman. Police got in touch with her once more, and she said she would come back to Delhi and join the investigation once she had recovered from her injuries. Following this, an FIR was registered under the relevant sections of law, and the investigation is currently underway.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (South) Anant Mittal said the force is keeping in touch with the complainant through this process. "We are aware of the matter and an FIR has been registered under appropriate sections of law. Police is in continuous contact with the complainant as she is under treatment in her hometown and recovering. She will be joining the investigation soon," Mittal said, as quoted by PTI.

Police added that efforts are on to verify the woman's allegations, identify the two men accused of chasing and ramming her scooty, and piece together the exact sequence of events from that night. With the CCTV footage so far inconclusive and the woman still recovering away from Delhi, the investigation is expected to move ahead once she is able to return and record her statement in person.
