Delhi wedding horror: CISF head constable shoots 17-year-old boy for collecting money during wedding procession
A head constable with the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) was arrested by shooting a 17-year-old boy during a wedding procession in Delhi's Shahdara. The incident took place in Shahdara's Mansarovar Park on Saturday evening, reports TOI's Khushi Bhuta. Police said the accused officer, identified as Madan Gopal Tiwari is posted in Kanpur and had come to Delhi to attend his cousin's wedding and was later arrested from Etawah in Uttar Pradesh.

According to police, tensions began when a group of children tried to gatecrash the wedding where the groom was on horseback and his family members were celebrating. When kin of the groom asked the children to move aside, they reportedly refused which triggered a quarrel. During the chaos, the CISF officer allegedly became angry and shot the teen and then fled to Etawah.

Police received information about the incident when a passer-by alerted them that the child had been shot near the Community Centre in the DDA Market. When the police arrived, they saw the boy sustained gunshot wounds amid the wedding procession passing through a narrow lane. The teen was rushed to the hospital but was declared dead.

The teen's parents, who are migrant labourers from Jharkhand, said the their son had stopped to watch the procession and was picking up some of the money thrown on the road. The child's father confirmed to TOI that he was going back home from his shop when his son came across the wedding procession and stopped since money was being thrown as part of celebrations. "He was collecting some thrown money, which some people there did not like. They beat him up after that. When he did not leave, the man, who was intoxicated, shot him," he said.

The child's brother was present at the spot and ran back home to inform the kin. A source told TOI, "When he gets bail, CISF will initiate an inquiry as per the law. If a person is detained for more than 48 hours, the person is deemed to be suspended."
