The forecast comes after parts of Delhi received light rainfall on Saturday, even as both maximum and minimum temperatures recorded a slight rise.
Delhi temperature rises despite light rain
Safdarjung, considered representative of Delhi’s weather conditions, recorded a minimum temperature of 27.7 degrees Celsius on Saturday, which was 0.4 degrees above normal and 0.4 degrees higher than the previous day.The maximum temperature at Safdarjung was recorded at 36 degrees Celsius, 1.1 degrees above normal and 1.4 degrees higher than Friday.
Palam recorded a minimum temperature of 25.2 degrees Celsius, up by 0.2 degrees from the previous day, while the maximum temperature stood at 33.8 degrees Celsius, 0.9 degrees higher than Friday.
Lodhi Road recorded a minimum temperature of 27 degrees Celsius, while Ayanagar recorded a minimum of 24.2 degrees Celsius, which was 1.1 degrees higher than the previous day.
Rain recorded across several Delhi areas
According to IMD data, scattered rainfall was recorded across parts of the city between Friday night and Saturday.Safdarjung received 1 mm of rain between 2.30 am and 5.30 am on Saturday, with no further rainfall recorded until 5.30 pm.
Palam recorded 0.4 mm of rain during the same period and received another 2.2 mm between 2.30 pm and 5.30 pm on Saturday. Lodhi Road recorded 1.9 mm of rain between 11.30 pm on Friday and 2.30 am on Saturday, while Najafgarh received 0.5 mm between 5.30 am and 8.30 am.
Janakpuri and Naraina recorded 1 mm and 2.5 mm of rain respectively between 2.30 pm and 5.30 pm on Saturday.
IMD predicts light rain, warns of moderate showers
The IMD has forecast very light to light rain at isolated places in Delhi on Sunday and Monday, accompanied by surface winds of 20 to 30 kmph, with gusts reaching up to 40 kmph.“Very light rain to light rain is likely at isolated places accompanied by surface winds of speed 20-30 kmph, gusting to 40 kmph on Sunday and Monday,” an IMD official said.
The maximum temperature is expected to remain between 33 and 35 degrees Celsius on Sunday, while the minimum temperature is likely to stay between 25 and 27 degrees Celsius.
The weather department has issued a yellow alert for Tuesday and Wednesday, when moderate rainfall is expected.
Delhi AQI remains in satisfactory category
Delhi’s air quality remained in the satisfactory category on Saturday. The 24-hour average Air Quality Index (AQI) was recorded at 73 at 9 am, compared with 70 recorded at the same time on Friday, according to Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) data.As per CPCB standards, AQI levels between 0 and 50 are classified as good, 51 to 100 as satisfactory, 101 to 200 as moderate, 201 to 300 as poor, 301 to 400 as very poor, and 401 to 500 as severe.
