Heavy rain brought relief from heat in Delhi on Friday night, but the India Meteorological Department has warned of worsening weather conditions on Saturday, including thunderstorms, lightning and strong winds.

The IMD has issued an orange alert for South, Central and New Delhi, while a yellow alert remains in place for southwest, west and northeast parts of the city. Cloudy skies are expected through the day, with thunderstorms and rain likely in the afternoon and evening. Officials have cautioned that wind speeds may increase significantly by evening.

The city is expected to see relatively pleasant but humid conditions on Saturday. The maximum temperature is likely to touch 29°C, while the minimum may settle around 18°C. Light winds at around 5 kmph are expected, with rain and lightning likely to bring a further dip in temperatures at night. Meanwhile, Delhi’s Air Quality Index (AQI) stood at 221 in the morning, placing it in the ‘poor’ category, according to the Central Pollution Control Board.
