IMD recently issued a statement saying prevailed at isolated pockets over Rajasthan was under cold wave to severe cold wave conditions, while Haryana and Delhi were under cold wave conditions.

Delhi on Tuesday morning woke up to 7 degree Celsius. While several other parts of Delhi woke up to even extreme winter with as low as 3 degree celsius. IMD informed us that this chilly weather will continue till New year. Christmas day saw the lowest temperature in Delhi. The IMD declared a cold wave in the region.

The sudden fall in temperature is caused by the cooling of air which leads to drop in mercury. According to IMD, cities like Delhi, Rajasthan, Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, and Chandigarh experienced cold wave conditions this week and will continue to experience low temperatures. This happened due to change in wind pressure and the travel of colder winds from northern areas of India where mercury range dropped as low as -4 degrees. The drivers are suggested to drive slow with caution due to the dense fog. And people are suggested to wear layers of warm cloth.

Delhi airport informed all the passengers on twitter, “While landings and take offs continue at Delhi Airport, flights that are not CAT III A compliant may get affected. flyers are requested to contact the airline for flight information. Any inconvenience caused is deeply regretted.”
