The sudden fall in temperature is caused by the cooling of air which leads to drop in mercury. According to IMD, cities like Delhi, Rajasthan, Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, and Chandigarh experienced cold wave conditions this week and will continue to experience low temperatures. This happened due to change in wind pressure and the travel of colder winds from northern areas of India where mercury range dropped as low as -4 degrees.
