University of Delhi's academic session for 2022-23 begins Wednesday with colleges welcoming students to different batches with orientation programmes.
Admissions to some of the 70,000 seats in various DU colleges are still underway. As many as 59,100 candidates secured admission in the first round. Most of the seats in prestigious colleges were filled in the first round.
As many as 15,398 candidates have frozen their seats in the first round. The second round of seat allocation is underway.
The students have been admitted to the new semester through the Common University Entrance Test (CUET), and not the Class-12 marks.
From this academic year, the DU is implementing the NEP and the four-year undergraduate programme.
On September 12, the university released the CSAS, its admission-cum-allocation policy. Admission through the CSAS is in three phases -- submission of the application form, selection of programmes and filling of preferences, and seat allocation and admission.
Classes for this semester will be held till February 17. Practical exams for the first semester will be from February 17 to 26.
Yogesh Singh said arrangements have been made to ensure that all facilities are available for the students.
