Delhi traffic police suspend a cop who fined a Korean man Rs 5,000 without receipt

The Delhi traffic police have suspended a cop who fined a Korean man Rs 5,000 without any receipt.

The incident is said to have happened a couple of days ago (some reports claim it happened around a month back).

In the video, the traffic cop named Mahesh Chand can be seen asking the Korean man for Rs 5,000 for some alleged traffic rule violation.


When, the Korean man offers Rs 500, the cop can be seen asking for Rs 5,000.

The man then gives the cop Rs 5,000 and thanks him.

The Korean man has posted the video of the incident on his YouTube channel, FITVELY, with the title: ""Give me all the cash" Reasons why you shouldn't drive a car in India.. How much is this - India".

After the video went viral, the Delhi Traffic Police swung into action and has now suspended the accused cop.

"Taking cognizance on the social media post, the concerned officer seen in the video has been placed under suspension pending inquiry. Delhi Police has zero tolerance policy towards corruption," tweeted Delhi Traffic Police today.

The move has been hailed by netizens but many called for stricter action.

"Please make him pay double the money to the foreigner...This is the biggest crime," replied one Twitter user.

"Why only suspension. He has tarnished image of India. There should be much strict action," said another.
