Delhi Rain Alert: Are there chances of rainfall in capital, Noida and Gurugram today? IMD issues yellow alert and warns residents. Check forecast

Delhi and its neighbouring areas are likely to see pleasant weather as rainfall is likely over the next three days, from March 19 to March 21, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has said. The anticipated showers are expected not only to bring relief from rising temperatures but also to improve the region’s air quality in the Delhi-NCR region. Delhi-NCR experienced rainfall and gusty winds on Wednesday, causing a dip in temperatures and power outages. The weather department has issued a yellow alert for Delhi for today and tomorrow.

Delhi Rain Prediction

According to the IMD, on Thursday, the sky is expected to turn partly cloudy in Delhi with light rain or thundershowers likely to occur once or twice during the day. Similar weather conditions are expected on Friday. The maximum temperatures on these days are projected to drop to 29 degrees Celsius and 28 degrees Celsius, respectively, while minimum temperatures may hover between 16 and 17 degrees Celsius.


On March 21, the sky is expected to remain generally cloudy in the national capital, with the possibility of light rainfall continuing. Thereafter, from March 22 to 23, the weather is likely to stabilise, with partly cloudy to mainly clear skies returning to the region.

The IMD has also indicated that there will be no significant rise in maximum or minimum temperatures over the coming week, offering continued relief from heat conditions. The expected rainfall is likely to play a crucial role in maintaining moderate temperatures.

When will rain stop in Delhi today?

19th March 2026: Temperatures will range between 28–30°C (max) and 15–17°C (min). Winds will shift from northeast in the morning to southeast by evening at 10–15 km/h. The sky will remain generally cloudy, with very light rain or drizzle accompanied by thunderstorms and strong winds. Morning winds may gust up to 40 km/h, while afternoon and night gusts could reach 50 km/h.

20th March 2026: Maximum temperature is expected at 26–28°C and minimum at 16–18°C. Winds will be east in the morning, northwest by afternoon, and northeast in the evening at 10–15 km/h. The day will see a generally cloudy sky with very light to light rain and thunderstorms. Strong surface winds of 30–40 km/h, gusting to 50 km/h, are likely in both forenoon and afternoon/evening spells.

21st March 2026: Maximum temperature will be 29–31°C and minimum 14–16°C. Winds will be east in the morning, northwest by afternoon, and north in the evening at 0–15 km/h. The sky will be partly cloudy.

22nd March 2026: Maximum temperature is expected at 30–32°C and minimum at 15–17°C. Winds will be west in the morning (0–5 km/h), northwest in the afternoon (10–15 km/h), and north in the evening (5–10 km/h). The sky will be partly cloudy.

23rd March 2026: Temperatures will range between 30–32°C (max) and 16–18°C (min). Winds will be west in the morning, northwest in the afternoon (15–20 km/h), and northwest in the evening (10–15 km/h). The sky will be partly cloudy.

24th March 2026: Maximum temperature is expected at 32–34°C and minimum at 16–18°C. Winds will be west in the morning (0–5 km/h), northwest in the afternoon (15–20 km/h), and northwest in the evening (10–15 km/h). The sky will remain partly cloudy.

Noida, Gurugram weather

On 19th March, the city will see a partly cloudy sky, with one or two spells of rain or thundershowers. Temperatures will range from a minimum of 16°C to a maximum of 29°C, making it slightly cooler than the previous day. 20th March will also be partly cloudy, with occasional rain or thundershowers in the day. The minimum temperature is likely to be 17°C, and the maximum around 28°C, continuing the mild weather trend.

On 21st March, Noida will have a partly cloudy sky, with temperatures ranging between 17°C in the morning and 29°C in the afternoon. No major rainfall is expected, giving residents a dry but comfortable day. 22nd March will see partly cloudy conditions, with minimum and maximum temperatures of 18°C and 30°C, respectively. The day will remain mostly dry with some cloud cover.

On 23rd March, the sky will be mainly clear, and temperatures will rise slightly, with a minimum of 18°C and a maximum of 31°C, signaling the gradual return of summer warmth.

On 19 March 2026, the weather will become partly cloudy with one or two spells of rain or thundershowers, with temperatures ranging from about 18 °C to 25 °C. Why is it raining in Delhi?
