In the wake of the video surfacing online, there has been a significant demand for legal action. The Government of Sikkim, through its Press Secretary Yougan Tamang, officially condemned the harassment on February 23, 2026. The state government characterized the incident as a direct affront to the integrity of India and called upon Delhi's law enforcement authorities to conduct a transparent investigation. The official statement emphasized that justice must be delivered without delay to send a clear message that racial discrimination and gender-based abuse will not be tolerated. According to officials, the FIR against two residents for allegedly racially abusing and criminally intimidating three women tenants from the North-Eastern region. The FIR at PS Malviya Nagar has been registered under BNS Section 79 (Word, gesture, or act intended to insult the modesty of a woman), Section 351(2) (Punishment for criminal intimidation), Section 196 (Promoting enmity between different groups on grounds of religion, race, place of birth, etc) and Section 3(5) (Acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention.) The accused have been identified as Harsh Singh and his wife Ruby Jain, residents of Malviya Nagar.(With TOI and ANI inputs)
