The admission process for nursery and entry-level classes in approximately 1,741 private schools in Delhi will commence on November 28, 2024. Parents can submit registration forms until December 20, 2024. The first general admission list will be published on January 17, 2025, as per the circular issued by the Directorate of Education (DoE).

Admissions Open for Open Seats Only

The admission process applies exclusively to open seats in Nursery, Pre-Primary, and Class 1. Seats reserved for categories like Economically Weaker Sections (EWS), Disadvantaged Groups (DG), and Children with Special Needs (CWSN) are not included in this process.

Delhi Nursery Admission 2025-26: Key Criteria

Schools have outlined specific criteria for admissions. Neighborhood proximity, distance from the school, and other factors like having a sibling already enrolled, being a single parent, or the applicant being a girl child are common considerations. Some institutions have additional criteria for specific groups, including Sikh and Christian minorities or economically disadvantaged families.

For example, Sachdeva Public School in Rohini prioritizes applicants from areas like Sectors 1, 2, 20, and 40, while Oxford Senior Secondary School in Vikas Puri lists regions like Vikas Puri, Keshopur, and Shankar Garden.

Points-Based Selection System
Most schools implement a points system to assess applications. Points are assigned for various criteria, ranging from 30 to 100, with maximum weightage often given to the neighborhood criterion.

Delhi Nursery Age Criteria for Admission

The circular specifies that children must meet the following age requirements as of March 31, 2025:

Nursery: Minimum three years, less than four years.
KG: Minimum four years, less than five years.
Class 1: Minimum five years, less than six years.
Schools are prohibited from making the purchase of a prospectus mandatory. A nominal registration fee of ₹25 may be charged.
