Delhi, Noida, Gurugram rain update: IMD issues yellow alert for capital, showers and thunderstorms to continue in NCR

Delhi is likely to receive rain accompanied by gusty winds till June 4, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted. Due to regular rain activity, mercury is expected to remain below 40 degrees Celsius till June 6.

The IMD has issued a yellow alert for Delhi and said, "During evening - Very Light to Light Rainfall, Thunderstorm accompanied with lightning & gusty winds(40-50kmph), During night - Very Light to Light Rainfall, Thunderstorm accompanied with lightning & gusty winds(40-50kmph)". A yellow alert has been issued for both Monday and Tuesday for light to very light rain and gusty winds up to 60 kmph.

Noida, Gurgaon and Ghaziabad: Rains likely with thunderstorms

A met official told news agency PTI, “Another western disturbance is expected to impact the region, leading to rain and thunderstorms in the city.” Similar weather conditions are likely in Noida, Gurgaon, Ghaziabad, Faridabad and other areas.

In Noida, residents can expect partly cloudy sky with one or two spells of rain or thundershowers till June 3, the IMD forecast said. The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be in the range of 38 degrees Celsius and 25-26 degrees Celsius, respectively.

Partly cloudy sky with one or two spells of rain or thundershowers have also been predicted for Gurugram and Ghaziabad on Monday, June 1. Gurugram is likely to see partly cloudy skies from tomorrow.

Delhi temperature to remain cool

The maximum temperature in Delhi on Sunday was recorded at 35.8 degrees Celsius, four degrees below normal. It was 37.2 degrees Celsius a day earlier. While rain eluded during the daytime, overcast skies and cooler winds kept mercury in check. The maximum temperature is likely to stay between 35 and 37 degrees Celsius on Monday. It may rise gradually to around 37-39 degrees Celsius by Wednesday.

The minimum temperature settled at 23.3 degrees Celsius, four degrees below normal. This may touch 29 degrees Celsius by Wednesday. Meanwhile, Delhi’s air quality remained in the ‘satisfactory’ category for the second consecutive day. The AQI was 98 on Sunday and 85 on Saturday.
