Delhi is gearing up for New Year 2026 celebrations with extensive traffic restrictions, road diversions and parking regulations, especially around Connaught Place, where large crowds are expected on New Year’s Eve. The Delhi Traffic Police has announced special arrangements to manage congestion and ensure public safety across key celebration zones.

Traffic restrictions around Connaught Place will come into force from 7:00 pm on December 31, 2025, and will remain effective until celebrations conclude. These measures apply to all private and public transport vehicles.

Vehicles will not be allowed to move towards Connaught Place beyond several checkpoints, including Mandi House, Bengali Market, Gole Market, Patel Chowk, Windsor Place, Minto Road crossings and surrounding arterial roads. Entry into the inner, middle and outer circles of Connaught Place will be strictly prohibited, except for vehicles carrying valid passes.

Parking arrangements near Connaught Place:

Limited parking will be available on a first-come, first-served basis at designated stretches near Gole Dak Khana on
(a) Kali Bari Marg
(b) Pt. Pant Marg

Near Patel Chowk on Rakab Ganj Road, behind AIR.

Near Mandi House on Copernicus Marg upto Baroda House.
(iv) Near Minto Road on D.D. Upadhaya Marg and Press Road area.
(v) Near Panchkuian Road on R.K. Ashram Marg, Chitragupta Road &Basant Road towards Pahar Ganj.
(vi) Near K.G. Marg-Ferozshah Road Crossing on Copernicus Lane as well as K.G. Marg towards C-Hexagon.

(vii) Near R/A Bengali market - on Babar Road and Tansen Marg
(viii) Near Windsor Place, Rajender Prasad Raisina Road
(ix) Near Gole Market at Peshwa Road, Service Road along Bhai Veer Singh Marg and R K Ashram Road.
(x) Near R/A Buta Singh on Jantar Mantar Road, Raisina Road.

Access to New Delhi Railway Station:
Special routes have been earmarked for passengers approaching the station from the south:
  • Ram Manohar Lohiya Park Street- Mandir Marg- Rani Jhansi Road- R/A Jhande Walan- Desh Bandhu Gupta Road.
  • R/A GPO- Kali Bari Marg- Mandir Marg- Rani Jhansi Road- R/A Jhande Walan- Desh Bandhu Gupta Road.
  • R/A Windsor Place- Ferozeshah Road- Mandi House- 'W' Point- 'A' Point- DDU Marg- Bhav Bhuti Marg.
Entry via Connaught Place–Chelmsford Road will remain closed. Motorists are advised to use Ajmeri Gate or Paharganj-side access points. They can reach the station via Pahar Ganj-Shiela Cinema or via Ajmeri Gate-J.L.N. Marg, via B.S.Z. Marg - Delhi Gate - J.L.N. Marg. Old Delhi Railway Station will not be affected.

Suggested alternate routes:
For north–south and east–west movement, commuters should rely on Ring Road, Bahadur Shah Zafar Marg, Mathura Road, Panchkuian Road and other notified corridors to avoid restricted zones.

India Gate traffic restrictions:

In view of heavy pedestrian movement, vehicles may be diverted from C-Hexagon and surrounding roads, and diverted from the following places:

Visitors are strongly advised to use public transport, as parking near India Gate will be extremely limited. Motorists are also asked to avoid Bhairon Road and Mathura Road near the Delhi Zoo due to expected congestion.

Authorities have urged commuters to plan journeys in advance, allow extra travel time for airports and railway stations, follow traffic personnel instructions and stay updated through official Delhi Traffic Police advisories. Patience, road discipline and cooperation will be key to a safe and smooth New Year’s Eve in the capital.
