Delhi weather alert for Christmas: Planning to step out today in Delhi-NCR? Check IMD forecast for December 25, AQI in Noida, Gurugram

The India Meteorological Department has issued a green alert for Delhi today- meaning weather conditions are likely to remain normal in and pose no significant risk. Delhi is likely to witness mainly clear skies today with shallow to moderate fog at many places during the morning hours, the weather department said. The maximum and minimum temperatures over Delhi are likely to be in the range of 21 °C to 23°C and 5 °C to 7 °C, respectively. Weather conditions are mostly favourable today if you are planning to step out for Christmas with your friends and family.

As far as Noida is concerned, the IMD has predicted fog and mist during early hours with maximum and minimum temperatures likely to hover between 18 degrees Celsius and 12 degrees Celsius, respectively. In Gurugram, there are chances of fog or mist in the morning and then partly cloud later with maximum and minimum temperatures likely to hover between 21 degrees Celsius and 8 degrees Celsius, respectively.

Delhi AQI on December 25

Delhi's air quality saw some improvement on Thursday morning, with the AQI moving to 'very poor' from 'severe' the day before, according to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB). Drone visuals from the Mayur Vihar area showed a thick layer of toxic smog blankets the city, ANI reported. The AQI in Mayur Vihar was 360, categorised as 'Very Poor'. In Dhaula Kuan, the air quality Index was recorded at 262, categorised as 'moderate'. The overall AQI was recorded at 221 around 8 am. However, it remained in the 'poor' category, according to data from the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB).





On Wednesday, the national capital's Air Quality Index (AQI) stood at 336 in the morning, as against 415 on Tuesday, the CPCB data showed. Of Delhi's 40 air quality monitoring stations, 36 recorded AQI in the 'very poor' category. Nehru Nagar recorded the highest reading of 392, the CPCB's Sameer app showed.

Cold wave warning for Bihar, UP

On the other hand, the IMD has predicted dense to very dense fog conditions are likely to continue during night/morning hours over Uttar Pradesh, Haryana and Chandigarh and Punjab till December 31. Foggy weather conditions are also forecasted in Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand till December 29 and in isolated pockets of Jammu division till 27th December. "Dense fog conditions during night/morning hours very likely at some pockets over Bihar, Odisha and Northeast India till 29th; Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and East Madhya Pradesh till 26th," the IMD said in its weather bulletin.

Meanwhile, cold day to severe cold day conditions are likely at a few places over Uttarakhand from December 24 to December 26. Cold day conditions very likely in isolated pockets of Bihar likely to continue till 28th, over east Uttar Pradesh till 26th December. Cold wave conditions likely over parts of northwest India on 26th and 27th December, 2025, the IMD said.
