Rain is likely across Delhi and neighbouring National Capital Region (NCR) cities on Thursday, October 15, as IMD forecasts showers, thunderstorms and lightning. The weather change is expected to bring a fall in daytime temperatures after a relatively warm Wednesday, when Safdarjung recorded a maximum temperature of 33.3°C and no rainfall, according to IMD.

IMD expects very light to light rain at many places, with moderate rain possible at isolated locations. Thunderstorms, lightning and winds reaching 40-50 kmph, with gusts up to 60 kmph, are likely during the afternoon and evening. Another spell of rain or thunderstorms is also possible at night.

IMD's forecast covers Delhi and nearby NCR cities, including Noida, Ghaziabad, Gurgaon and Faridabad. Conditions may vary locally, so the regional forecast should not be read as a guarantee of equal rainfall in every neighbourhood.



Delhi witnessed rain in several areas on Thursday as the India Meteorological Department issued an orange alert warning of moderate to intense showers, thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds of 40-60 kmph until 2 pm. The minimum temperature settled at 23.3 degrees Celsius, 3.7 degrees above normal, while the maximum is expected to reach around 29 degrees Celsius. A western disturbance and cyclonic circulation are contributing to the post-monsoon spell.

Delhi weather today

Delhi is likely to experience cloudy skies and rain on October 15, with thunderstorms and lightning possible through the day. IMD's forecast indicates a maximum temperature of around 28-30°C and a minimum of 19-21°C, marking a noticeable dip from Wednesday's daytime high.

Noida weather today

Noida expects rain and thunderstorms on October 15. The city may see cloudy conditions, with showers possible at several locations and moderate rain at isolated spots. Thunderstorms could also bring lightning and strong, gusty winds.

The regional temperature outlook indicates a daytime high of around 28-30°C on Thursday. However, the forecast does not establish that every part of Noida will receive rain at the same time or in the same quantity.

Rain and thunderstorms are also possible on October 16. The outlook then turns drier, with temperatures rising again over the following days. People commuting between Noida and Delhi should keep the possibility of afternoon or evening showers in mind.

Gurgaon weather today

IMD's forecast for Gurgaon, also known as Gurugram, points to rain, thunderstorms and lightning on October 15, alongside winds that may reach 40-50 kmph and gust up to 60 kmph.

The expected regional maximum temperature of 28-30°C suggests cooler daytime conditions than those recorded on Wednesday. Rainfall may not be uniform across Gurgaon, however, and local conditions could differ between neighbourhoods.

The possibility of another spell at night means the weather may remain unsettled beyond the afternoon. Thunderstorms are also forecast for October 16 before the region moves towards drier conditions from October 17.

Faridabad weather today

Rain is likely in Faridabad on Thursday, with thunderstorms and lightning possible as the weather system affects parts of the region. IMD's forecast also indicates gusty winds during the afternoon and evening.

The broader temperature forecast places daytime highs at around 28-30°C and overnight lows at 19-21°C.

A further spell of rain or thunderstorms may occur at night, while October 16 is also expected to bring rain and thunderstorm activity. Conditions are forecast to improve from October 17, when the regional outlook points to partly cloudy skies and a rise in maximum temperatures.

Ghaziabad weather today
