According to IMD's bulletin, a well-marked low pressure area over central parts of northern Madhya Pradesh and adjoining south Uttar Pradesh is behind the extended rain activity. The system is expected to remain quasi-stationary for the next two days, which means Delhi and its neighbouring cities will continue to see cloudy skies and intermittent showers before conditions start clearing up later in the week.

Delhi is likely to witness a generally cloudy sky on September 5, with one or two spells of light to moderate rain accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning during the early morning to forenoon hours. Another spell of rain with thunderstorms is expected during the afternoon to evening, IMD said. The maximum temperature is expected to range between 29°C and 31°C, while the minimum will likely settle between 24°C and 26°C, both lower than the previous day on account of the rain.
Winds are expected to blow from the southeast at speeds of 10-15 kmph through the day.
Will it rain in Noida today?
Noida falls under the district-wise forecast issued for Delhi NCR, which indicates cloudy skies with one or two spells of light to moderate rain accompanied by thunderstorms during the morning hours, followed by another spell towards the afternoon and evening. Rain activity is considered likely for the city.
Will it rain in Gurugram today?
Gurugram is expected to see similar weather conditions, with generally cloudy skies and thunderstorm activity likely in two spells through the day, the first during the early morning to forenoon period and the second towards the afternoon and evening.
Will it rain in Ghaziabad today?
Ghaziabad is also under the same forecast pattern, with rain accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning likely at multiple points during the day. IMD data shows Ghaziabad recorded a maximum temperature of 34.9°C and a minimum of 27.1°C over the past 24 hours.
Will it rain in Faridabad today?
Faridabad is expected to witness rain activity through the day as well, with cloudy skies and thunderstorms forecast during both the morning and evening spells. The city recorded a maximum of 34.4°C and a minimum of 28.3°C in the past 24 hours, along with 4.5 mm of rainfall.
Delhi NCR weather forecast next week
IMD's extended forecast shows the rain activity easing from September 6, when only very light rain is expected, followed by dry and partly cloudy conditions from September 7 through September 10. Wind direction is also expected to shift from southeasterly to northwesterly during this period, which typically signals drier weather setting in. Maximum temperatures are expected to gradually climb back to the 33-35°C range by the weekend, once the rain-bearing system moves away from the region.
IMD has also issued an advisory warning of possible traffic disruption, water accumulation in low-lying areas, and increased risk of vehicle accidents on account of the rain, advising commuters to check for congestion before travelling and to follow traffic advisories issued for the day.
