Delhi-NCR Weather: Rain and thunderstorms expected today and tomorrow, IMD issues warnings across multiple districts
Delhi experienced a pleasant change in weather with a minimum temperature of 22.6°C, significantly below normal, accompanied by expected rain and thunderstorms. The city's air quality is 'moderate' with an AQI of 165.

According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the maximum temperature is expected to reach around 37°C. Rain and thunderstorms are likely to occur, bringing some relief from the recent heat.
At 8:30 am, the humidity level was 67%.
Air quality in Delhi
The city’s Air Quality Index (AQI) was recorded at 165, which falls under the ‘moderate’ category. For reference:- 0–50 is ‘good’
- 51–100 is ‘satisfactory’
- 101–200 is ‘moderate’
- 201–300 is ‘poor’
- 301–400 is ‘very poor’
- 401–500 is ‘severe’
Rain over the weekend
On Sunday, parts of South Delhi saw a dust storm followed by a spell of rain and strong winds. The rain helped cool things down after maximum temperatures crossed 39°C earlier in the day. Some temperature readings:- Safdarjung: 39.7°C
- Ayanagar: 39.5°C
- Lodhi Road: 39.4°C
- Palam: 39.1°C
IMD issues warnings
The IMD has warned of thunderstorms, lightning, and squalls for June 2 and 3. Wind speeds may go up to 80 km/h in parts of the city.Districts on alert include:
- South
- South East
- New Delhi
- East
- Central
- Shahdara
- North East
Monsoon update
The monsoon has advanced into more areas including Chhattisgarh, Odisha, parts of the Bay of Bengal, the northeastern states, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, and Sikkim.In Assam, heavy rains have already caused flood-like conditions and landslides. The IMD has warned of very heavy rainfall in the state over the next 2–3 days.
