Ghaziabad and Noida district administrations have announced a change in school timings for children
In view of the rising temperatures, school timings in the Delhi-NCR region have been revised to protect the students from the extreme heat. The rise in mercury has started in April itself and this might prompt authorities in Delhi-NCR to change summer vacation schedules and announce holidays earlier.

School timings in Delhi

With summer intensifying in Delhi, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta has announced that school children may be given ORS solution before leaving school to prevent dehydration during their commute. As of now, a blanket-wise state-wise timing has not been finalised yet in Delhi. As per the Directorate of Education academic calendar, summer vacations in Delhi will be from May 11 to June 30, 2026. Some of the key measures to be implemented in Delhi schools are:


-Schools have to ring a bell every 45 to 60 minutes to ensure mandatory hydration breaks for students.

-All outdoor assemblies, sports, and physical activities are strictly suspended between 11 AM and 4 PM.

-Schools have been asked to provide ORS solutions to students before they depart for the day before commutes.

Revised school timings in Noida

The District Magistrate (DM) of Gautam Budh Nagar has ordered a change in school timings across Noida to safeguard students’ health. As per the new schedule, all schools must conduct classes from 7:30 AM to 12:30 PM, effective from April 27, 2026, until further orders are issued.

The order states that it must be strictly followed by all educational institutions in Gautam Buddh Nagar operating in the district. This includes council schools, non-government institutions, and schools recognized under any educational board. Authorities have emphasized that compliance is mandatory and essential to protect children during the ongoing heatwave conditions.

Ghaziabad school timings update

Not just Noida, the Ghaziabad district administration has announced a change in school timings for children. The DM has issued instructions that from Monday, April 27, all schools in UP's Ghaziabad, from nursery to class VIII, will open only from 7:30 am to 12:30 pm.

The latest order regarding the change in timings has been issued for all the schools in Ghaziabad district. All CBSE, ICSE and government schools will come under the purview of the order issued under the district administration. Under the DM's instructions, an order has been issued at the level of the District Basic Education Officer. In this, all the block level officers have been instructed to ensure compliance with the DM's instructions in the area.

School timings revised in these states

In Patna, the district administration has ordered that schools for Classes 1 to 8 will function only until 11:30 am in view of the ongoing heatwave. The directive is effective from today, April 27.

The Dehradun district administration has ordered the closure of all schools from Monday, April 27, in view of the severe and persistent heatwave. The order applies to all government, private, and non‑government schools from Classes 1 to 12, as well as all Anganwadi centres in the district.

In Rajasthan, the Sikar district administration has revised school timings, directing classes from pre‑primary to Class 8 to operate between 7:30 AM and 11:30 AM, with immediate effect. In Ajmer too, the morning classes from primary to Class 8 will now begin from 7.30 am to 12 noon from today.
