Delhi Metro services to start at 6 am on Sunday amid BRICS Summit traffic restrictions

Delhi Metro train services will begin at 6am across all corridors on Sunday, September 13, 2026, to help students reach examination centres on time and ensure smoother travel for commuters amid traffic restrictions in the national capital during the BRICS Summit.

The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) said the early start has been planned to facilitate the movement of students and other passengers. Normally, services on the Pink, Magenta and Grey lines begin at 7am on Sundays.

The DMRC announced the change in a post on X, advising students and commuters to plan their journeys accordingly.


"To facilitate the smooth and timely movement of students appearing for examinations and the general public, Metro train services will commence at 06:00 AM on all lines on Sunday, 13th September 2026. Students and passengers are advised to plan their journey accordingly," the post said.

BRICS Summit 2026 In Delhi

The BRICS Summit 2026 is being held in the national capital on September 12 and 13. The movement of international leaders and other dignitaries has prompted authorities to put temporary traffic arrangements in place across parts of Delhi.

Delhi Police Issues Traffic Advisory

The Delhi Police has issued an advisory warning commuters about possible traffic regulations and diversions during the summit.

"In view of the movement of international dignitaries during the BRICS Summit 2026, traffic may be temporarily regulated/diverted on certain roads in and around New Delhi," the police said in a post on X.

The police have asked citizens to plan their journeys in advance and keep sufficient extra travel time, particularly when travelling through areas that may experience restrictions.

Commuters Advised To Prefer Metro, Public Transport

Commuters have been advised to use the Delhi Metro and other public transport services wherever possible and avoid unnecessary travel through regulated areas and routes being used for VVIP movement.

Travelling To Airport Or Railway Stations? Leave Early

Passengers heading to airports and railway stations have been advised to start their journeys well in advance and keep additional time in hand because of possible traffic restrictions and diversions.

The Delhi Police has also urged commuters to follow the official Delhi Police and Delhi Traffic Police platforms for real-time updates about traffic conditions and arrangements during the BRICS Summit.
