Meerut Metro: India’s Fastest Local Network
The launch also introduces the Meerut Metro, which officials state will be the fastest metro system in the country. Designed with a top speed of 135 kmph and a maximum operational speed of 120 kmph, it will operate on a 21 km stretch from Meerut South to Modipuram. The metro service will cover this distance, including 12 planned stations, in roughly 30 minutes. In a first for India, these local metro trains will operate on the same tracks and infrastructure as the high-speed Namo Bharat trains.Delhi to Meerut RRTS: Integration at Sarai Kale Khan Hub
Sarai Kale Khan station is designed as a mega multimodal transport hub, integrating the RRTS with the Hazrat Nizamuddin Railway Station, the Pink Line of the Delhi Metro, and the Sarai Kale Khan ISBT. To facilitate seamless movement, a 280-metre-long foot overbridge equipped with six travelators has been constructed to link the RRTS station directly with the nearby railway station. This strategic location is expected to handle a massive volume of passengers daily as it becomes the primary gateway for commuters between Delhi and western Uttar Pradesh.Delhi-Meerut RRTS Travel Times and Frequency
Once the entire corridor is operational, the frequency of Namo Bharat trains will improve from the current 15 minutes to every 10 minutes. Commuters will be able to travel the full 82 km distance from Sarai Kale Khan in Delhi to Modipuram in Meerut in approximately 58 minutes. This represents a significant reduction in travel time compared to traditional road or rail routes, which can often take up to three hours.Delhi to Meerut Fare Structure: Namo Bharat trains
The fare for the Namo Bharat service is distance-based, designed to cater to both budget and premium travelers.- Standard Class: Fares range from ₹20 to ₹150 depending on the distance covered.
- Premium Class: For those seeking additional comfort, fares range from ₹30 to ₹225.
- Premium Amenities: The first coach of every Namo Bharat train is a dedicated Premium coach, featuring cushioned reclining seats, charging ports, and more legroom.
- Standard Journey Examples: A ride from New Ashok Nagar to Meerut South currently costs ₹150 in Standard class and ₹225 in Premium class.
- Meerut Local Metro Fares: While specific local metro-only fares are integrated into the distance chart, shorter city trips within Meerut follow the base minimum fare starting at ₹20


Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut RRTS: Expansion of the Operational Corridor
Currently, a 55 km stretch of the corridor is functional, serving 11 stations between New Ashok Nagar and Meerut South. The upcoming inauguration will open the final segments, including a 5 km section in Delhi and a 21 km extension in Meerut. A key highlight of the Delhi section is the Sarai Kale Khan Namo Bharat station, one of the network's largest hubs, which has been ready for operations since July 2025.
