In an alleged case of murder, a 25-year-old woman was brutally murdered by a man near South Delhi's Aurobindo College on Friday, ANI reported, citing a Delhi Police official.

"The incident took place inside the park. The deceased is a college student. She had come to the park with her friend. There are injuries on the deceased's head. A rod was also found near her body. We are investigating the matter," said Chandan Chowdhary, Deputy Commissioner of Police, South Delhi.

Further sharing the details, the DCP said that the entire issue basically has a love angle and a denial of marriage.

"The victim is 22 years old, and the accused, who is 28 years old, are cousins. The deceased's family had refused the boy for marriage since he was unemployed. Subsequently, the girl stopped talking to him. The boy was mentally disturbed, and therefore he committed this crime today," she added.

The accused has been identified as Irfan, and he was working as a delivery boy and knew where the girl was taking coaching from, said the DCP.
