According to a relative, Sharma’s father received a call from him around 10 pm, during which he expressed distress and said it had become difficult for him to continue living. The father travelled from Alwar and reached Delhi around midnight.
The relative stated that Sharma’s father was informed that he had been facing conflicts with his wife and had allegedly been harassed for the past two months.
Allegations of domestic conflict
The family alleged that Sharma’s wife, Swati, also a judicial officer, and her sister Nidhi Malik, an IAS officer posted in Jammu, were involved in ongoing disputes. According to the relative, Sharma had claimed that Nidhi Malik interfered in his personal life and exercised control over his household.The situation reportedly escalated the next morning when an argument broke out inside the house. The relative said that Sharma’s father witnessed his daughter-in-law shouting while Sharma appeared distressed.
Discovery of the body
After the argument subsided, Sharma’s father attempted to locate him. When he called Sharma’s phone, it was heard ringing inside the bathroom. Despite repeated attempts to open the door, there was no response.Neighbours suggested accessing the bathroom through a window in the shaft. A security guard used a ladder to enter through the window and found Sharma hanging inside.
Background and service record
According to official records, Sharma joined the Delhi Judicial Services on June 19, 2021. A graduate of Symbiosis Law School, Pune, he completed his BA LLB in 2018.During his career, he handled both criminal and civil matters and served in various roles as a judicial magistrate first class and civil judge. From October 18, 2025, he was serving as the full-time Secretary of the District Legal Services Authority in the North-East district at Karkardooma Courts.
Police investigation
Police reached the spot after receiving information about the incident and initiated inquest proceedings. The body has been sent for post-mortem examination, and officials said further investigation is in progress.A senior police officer stated that no foul play has been established so far, but all angles are being examined as part of the inquiry. Statements of concerned individuals are being recorded to ascertain the circumstances leading to the incident.
