The ISKCON Temple in East of Kailash is celebrating Sri Krishna Janmashtami on August 16 with elaborate decorations and spiritual festivities.

To mark the occasion, the temple has sourced flowers from across India and abroad—exotic orchids from Thailand and fragrant roses from Bengaluru and Pune. Devotees will also witness deities adorned in exquisite garments and ornaments specially crafted by artisans from Vrindavan.

The celebrations began at 4:30 am with mangala aarti, followed by darshan aarti at 7:15 am. The temple will remain open throughout the day for darshan. In the evening, a grand mahabhishek will be held at Gate No. 5 pandal at 9:30 pm, followed by the offering of 1,008 food preparations at 11:30 pm. The festivities will culminate with the midnight mahaarti at 12:30 am.

Throughout the day, devotees will participate in congregational chanting of the Hare Krishna mantra. Free distribution of thandai and fruit prasad has also been arranged. In the evening, the temple complex will sparkle with lights and showcase captivating dioramas depicting Lord Krishna’s divine pastimes.

For security, nearly 500 Delhi Police personnel, 500 private guards, and 3,000 volunteer devotees will be deployed. The temple has installed 320 CCTV cameras, with eight fire engines, nine ambulances, 12 first-aid stations, and a dedicated medical team on standby. Nine watchtowers and six checkpoints will also be actively monitored.
