Delhi High Court to hear plea to postpone NEET-UG for 2022
The petition claims that several exams have been scheduled within few days gap only. This has caused tremendous mental pressure and trauma resulting in 16 reported suicides of young students.

This petition was filed in court by 15 aspirants. Justice Sanjeev Narula will hear the plea. The petition has been filed by advocate Mamta Sharma.
Candidates have wished the exams to be postponed by 4-6 weeks. The students want adjournment of the exams on the grounds that there is a clash in exam dates of JEE, CUET and NEET. The petition claims that several exams have been scheduled within few days gap only. This has caused tremendous mental pressure and trauma resulting in 16 reported suicides of young students.
The petition also states that the board exams ended in mid-June 2022. The students couldn't get enough time to prepare well for three national-level examinations, i.e. JEE, CUET and NEET.
The three national-level examinations of JEE, CUET and NEET have been scheduled to be held in July 2022 and the exams have a time gap of 1-2 days only. The syllabus of all the three exams are totally different, thus leading to high mental pressure. The plea also stated that because of heavy rains in the country and the flood situation, it becomes difficult for the candidates to travel long distances.
The petition further reported that the notification for NEET exams for this year was released approximately 100 days before the exam. It also stated that the examination schedule is illogical and random. Even though the respondents are aware about the genuine issue of the petitioners, they have failed to take a corrective and timely decision. This has led to confusion amongst the students since the admit card of the students were not released till 11th July, 2022.
The candidates genuinely believed that their concerns which were raised through different representations will be considered. However, to their surprise and shock, the respondents have ignored the plea and decided to conduct the NEET-UG 2022 examination at the scheduled date of 17.07.2022, the petition added.
The petition argued that NEET-UG is one of the toughest examinations in the world and if it is conducted as scheduled, lakhs of students will lose one year of education and suffer substantive injustice.
