Delhi family stays at Oberoi Udaivilas Hotel for 10 days, allegedly leaves without paying nearly Rs 6 lakh bill

The Oberoi Udaivilas Hotel in Udaipur has filed a police complaint against a Delhi family, alleging that they left the property without paying a bill of Rs 5.74 lakh following a 10-day stay. The family reportedly told the hotel that a travel agency would settle the amount.

Delhi Family Stayed At Hotel For 10 Days

The family, identified as Delhi resident Anurag Yadav, travelled to Udaipur with his wife and two children. They reportedly stayed at The Oberoi Udaivilas from August 14 to August 23 and used the hotel's luxury facilities and services during their visit.


According to the hotel management, the family did not settle the bill before leaving the property and allegedly claimed that the payment would be made by a travel agency.

Family Allegedly Refused To Pay Rs 5.74 Lakh Bill

On August 24, during the checkout process, the hotel management reportedly presented Yadav with a bill amounting to Rs 5.74 lakh. However, Yadav allegedly declined to make the payment, stating that the travel agency would clear the dues on his behalf.

The hotel has alleged that the amount remained unpaid after the family left the property.

What Did The Hotel Say About The Travel Agency?

According to the hotel management, Maker Baha Travel Agency had booked a room for Yadav through email on August 12.

The hotel reportedly said there was no special arrangement, discount or agreement with the travel agency at the time of booking that required the agency to pay the hotel bill. The police are now investigating the alleged role of the travel agency and examining the circumstances surrounding the booking and unpaid bill.

FIR Registered In Udaipur

An FIR was registered at Ambamata police station in Udaipur following a complaint filed by Ravindra Singh, the hotel's liaison manager. Police are investigating the allegations against the family as well as the role of the travel agency in the matter.

Ajay Raj Singh Shekhawat, SI at Ambamata police station, confirmed that the hotel management had filed an FIR.

“A detailed investigation is being carried out,” he said.
