Starting next month, the option to get Delhi government's power subsidy will no longer be available by default and every year, consumers will be given an option to continue with power subsidy or not.
“You will get subsidy based on which month you are applying for subsidy…If you apply in September, you will get subsidy from October. Similarly, if you opt in October, you will get subsidy in November….This scheme is valid for one year and it will get renewed every year…All people will get a form along with their electricity bill in their September cycle which one will have to fill if they want to continue to avail the subsidy on electricity,” Kejriwal said.
Currently, domestic consumers in Delhi using up to 200 units of power per month are given 100 per cent subsidy. Those consuming up to 400 units are provided 50 per cent or up to Rs 800 as subsidy.
Here is how you can apply for the power subsidy in Delhi:
Give a missed call or send a WhatsApp message on 7011311111.
For offline bill
Consumer will receive a letter/consent form along with the electricity bills for the next two cycles.
You have to fill and submit the form.
Update your mobile number, and voter ID and sign it.
Visit the nearest billing centre to submit the form before the next billing cycle.
For e-bill
Open the link, fill all details and submit it.
A separate subsidy section will also be created in apps of all three discoms, where the consumer can fill out their subsidy form.
After submission of the form, they will get a receipt stamped by the discoms.
