The collision between Toy train and taxi in Darjeeling.
A video involving the Darjeeling Himalayan Railway (DHR) has gone viral after a taxi driver allegedly argued with a loco pilot and claimed the iconic toy train was travelling on the "wrong side" following a minor collision with his vehicle.

According to reports and videos circulating on social media, the century-old narrow-gauge train brushed against a Tata Sumo that had been parked dangerously close to the railway tracks. The driver allegedly confronted railway staff after the incident, insisting that the train should not have been there.

Authorities later found that the vehicle had been parked illegally and negligently near the tracks. The taxi was subsequently seized and a case was registered against the driver.

Social media users react with amusement

The incident sparked widespread reactions online, with many users mocking the driver's claim and pointing out that trains operate on fixed tracks.

One user wrote, "People will argue with a train rather than accept they parked wrongly," while another commented, "How can a train go on the wrong side?"

Several users also called for strict action against the driver, saying the incident had endangered a heritage railway.

Darjeeling Himalayan Railway celebrates heritage and tourism growth

The viral incident comes as the Darjeeling Himalayan Railway continues to celebrate its heritage and rising popularity.

The UNESCO World Heritage-listed railway recently observed Toy Train Day with community outreach programmes, art workshops and heritage awareness events at Sukna station to engage local residents and younger generations.
