People from different parts of India held the Dahi Handi competition as a part of the Janmashtami celebrations yesterday, and we were given a glimpse into the lives of the students at the Victoria Memorial School for the Blind in Mumbai and their celebrations won millions of hearts online.

Visually impaired children from the school were seen taking part in a fun-filled Dahi Handi competition. A video of the celebrations was shared on twitter and the students were seen triumphantly breaking the hanging clay pot.

The video clip was shared by the Chairman of RPG Enterprises, Harsh Goenka and it shows the students forming a human pyramid, with one students mounted on top of another. A small boy reaches the top and grabs the clay pot and amid cheers, he managed to break the pot.

“On the occasion of #Janmashtami, this ‘Dahi handi’ is performed by the visually impaired children of Victoria Memorial School for the Blind, a school where my wife works,” Goenka tweeted.

The video clip has garnered more than 13,500 views on Twitter, two hours after it was first shared.

Many citizens reacted with delight at the children's vigour with many leaving positive comments on the post. One use left the comment, 'This is so inspiring. Nothing is impossible!". Another user wrote, “Unbelievable these kids r too amazing ambitious n courageous.” A third user wrote, “Watching it …I was having goosebumps!”

The Dahi Handi competition is meant as a symbolic celebration of how a young Krishna growing up in Vrindavan used to steal butter from earthen pots which were hung at a height. He used to rally other children to help him in his endeavors. In the modern day, people wearing colourful attires, form human pyramids in a bid to reach the top and break clay pots filled with yogurt and buttermilk.

Maharashtra witness the event taking place with great pomp and show, following the gap of two years because of the Covid pandemic. The state government had also announced last month that there would be no restrictions enforced during the celebrations.
