IMD stated that the depression over the southwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining areas of Southeast Sri Lanka & Equatorial Indian Ocean is very likely to intensify further and continue to move north-northwestwards across southwest Bay of Bengal & adjoining Sri Lanka coast towards North Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and adjoining south Andhra Pradesh coast during the subsequent 48 hours.
IMD, on Wednesday, warned that low pressure area has been formed over the southwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining areas of Southeast Sri Lanka & Equatorial Indian Ocean under the influence of Cyclone Senyar. "It is very likely to move nearly north-northwestwards and intensify into a depression during next 24 hours. Thereafter, it is very likely to intensify further and continue to move north-northwestwards across the southwest Bay of Bengal towards North Tamil Nadu & Puducherry coasts during subsequent 48 hours," the weather agency said, warning of rains in Chennai anf adjoining cities of Tamil Nadu.
Cyclone Senyar Alert
The Indian weather monitoring body issued a weather warning regarding Cyclone Senyar being active over the Strait of Malacca. "Cyclonic Storm Senyar is active over the Strait of Malacca.
