The footage, shared by @Ayyappan_1504, shows the crocodile on a dark, empty road in Perungalathur. Filmed from inside a car, the video also features a motorcyclist cautiously observing the unexpected guest. As vehicles approach, the crocodile calmly retreats to the nearby bushes.
Simultaneously, waterlogging is reported in various city areas. The night's relentless downpour led to extensive waterlogging, causing traffic snarls across Chennai. Chrompet GST Road witnessed severe congestion due to heavy rainfall.
In the northern parts of Chennai, Vadakarai road from Madhavaram to Sengunram is submerged, and Thillai Ganga Nagar Subway in Alandur is closed due to excessive waterlogging. Power cuts and waterlogging in low-lying areas are disrupting normal life, prompting the deployment of NDRF and SDRF teams in the city.
Continuous heavy rain and cyclonic winds throughout the day have filled lakes and ponds in Chengalpattu district, leading to widespread flooding on bus roads. The Mahabalipuram-Chengalpattu road is impassable, and transportation to ten villages near Kilyar Bridge is affected.
