Students can now apply for a change in examination state, date and/or shift till May 7, 11:50 PM. The move comes after many aspirants, especially from Delhi, Haryana and Bihar, expressed serious concerns over high travel costs, accommodation expenses and logistical difficulties.
Why Students Are Upset
Several candidates reported being assigned centres in completely different states despite selecting nearby cities. For instance, Delhi students were allotted centres in Agra, Jaipur and Mohali. Many have multiple exam dates spread across May, making repeated inter-state travel extremely challenging and expensive.

NTA’s Stand
The agency attributed the issue to massive registrations (15.6 lakh candidates) and limited CBT test centre capacity. It stated that 79% of candidates received their first-choice city while 96.6% got one of their preferred cities.
