What is Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET)?
CTET is a national-level exam conducted to assess the eligibility of candidates for teaching positions in Primary (Classes 1 to 5) and Elementary (Classes 6 to 8) education. To become eligible to teach in Central Government schools such as Kendriya Vidyalayas (KVS), Navodaya Vidyalayas (NVS), and other similar institutions, candidates must pass this exam.The CTET exam is held twice a year and is conducted in an offline, pen-and-paper format. It is expected that over 20 lakh candidates will appear for the exam. The duration of the exam is 150 minutes, and it is divided into two shifts. Shift 1 runs from 09:30 am to 12:00 noon, while Shift 2 is scheduled from 02:30 pm to 05:00 pm.
The CTET exam is available in English and Hindi and aims to determine the eligibility of candidates for teaching roles in government schools. The exam centres are spread across approximately 243 locations, providing widespread access to candidates. The fees for the exam are INR 1,000 for General and OBC candidates, and INR 500 for SC, ST, and PwD candidates.
