Crocodile enters residential colony in MP's Shivpuri after heavy rains: Watch video

Overflowing nullahs from heavy rains in Madhya Pradesh's Shivpuri brought in something which caused a brief alarm among residents - an eight-foot-long crocodile.

The reptile was spotted in a residential colony near the old bus stand in the early hours of Sunday, and videos on social media showed people on their terraces watching its slow progress through a water-logged narrow lane.

Authorities were informed, a rescue team from the nearby Madhav National Park was called in, and the crocodile was captured after an effort lasting more than an hour.


The big reptile was later released in the Sankhya Sagar Lake, PTI quoted sub divisional officer of police (SDOP) Ajay Bhargava

Officials the crocodile might have entered the colony from a swollen nullah passing next to it.

One of the videos showed the crocodile in front of a house in a narrow lane of the residential colony.

Other pictures on news sites showed the crocodile bound securely by members of the rescue team before it was transported to the Sankhya Sagar Lake.

There were heavy rains in the area on Saturday night, and the district administration had directed its employees not to leave the headquarters without prior permission of the collector.
