COVID Variant BF.7: IMA issues advisory, see new guidelines here

As Covid-19 new variant cases are on peak in other countries including the USA and Japan, IMA advised all to follow the necessary steps to combat the impending Covid outbreak.

The Indian Medical Association (IMA) issued an advisory today to its state and regional branches for taking essential measures in the case of Covid 19 outbreak in their regions. IMA strongly urged all its members and doctors to take proactive measures in their areas as was done in the last pandemic.

Pointing out the rapid increase in the Covid-19 new variant cases in other countries including the USA and Japan, IMA advised all to follow the necessary steps to combat the impending Covid outbreak. However, it stressed that the situation is not alarming in India right now and thus people should not panic but take due prevention as it’s better than cure.

The IMA assured that 3.5 lakh doctors in its association are committed to fighting back and overcoming the virus across the country. It also assured that it would fully cooperate with the government in all kinds of preventive and curative measures


Besides its members, the IMA also appealed to the government to increase its preparedness to combat the possible rise of cases. It asked particularly the concerned ministries and departments to ensure the availability of oxygen supply, ambulances and medicines.

The covid appropriate behaviour and guidelines include wearing face masks, maintaining social distancing, washing hands regularly with hand wash or cleaning with sanitisers and avoiding public gatherings like marriages. People should avoid travelling abroad and consult doctors on experiencing symptoms like fever, sore throat and cough.
