The recent rise of Covid cases in China has alerted India to take the necessary precautions. Government recently announced guidelines for all the cities and advised people to put masks in crowded areas. With New Year around the corner, make your holiday plans considering the covid protocols set by the government to avoid another covid surge and lockdown.

Many states have already made masks compulsory in crowded areas and are working on putting fines if the covid guidelines are not followed. The Karnataka government has made masks compulsory in theaters, airports, halls, restaurants, pubs and schools. New Year celebrations are only allowed till 1 am. The Government has asked senior citizens to avoid staying at crowded places.

Puducherry administration has asked the public to strictly follow the covid guideline and wear masks at public places. Hotels, bars and restaurants have been asked to ensure that their staff are vaccinated.


The BF.5 variant of Omicron has already been reported in Tamil Nadu. Health minister of the state, Ma Subramanian said “The COVID-19 protocols cover mask use and hygiene. We have not declared any form of relaxation. All of the COVID-19 standard operating procedures are still in place. Wearing a mask is safe in crowded settings such as malls and air-conditioned environments.”

The Government conducted a mock drill on December 27 in hospitals across the country to check the preparedness to deal with covid spurge. Health minister Mansukh Mandaviya said “Covid cases are going up over the world and India can also witness a spike in cases . Hence, it is important that the entire Covid infrastructure, equipment, processes, and human resources, be operationally ready.”
