Corona Papers: Here's all you may want to know about this crime thriller

Having previously helmed the big-budget epic Marakkar: Arabikadalinte Simham starring Mohanlal, Manju Warrier, Suniel Shetty, Arjun Sarja, and Keerthy Suresh, director Priyadarshan has chosen to pursue a smaller project for his upcoming film. Titled Corona Papers, the thriller, which he both wrote and produced, was released in theaters on April 6, 2023.

The movie stars Shane Nigam, Shine Tom Chacko, Gayathrie Shankar, Jean Paul Lal, Sandhya Shetty, and Siddique in prominent roles, with Siddique being the only one who has worked with the seasoned director before. For the other actors, this marks their first collaboration with Priyadarshan.

As the first major Malayalam release in April, there was initially some uncertainty surrounding the film's release date. However, the creators ultimately confirmed that the thriller would hit theaters on April 6, the day before Good Friday.


Despite there being limited information available about the plot of Corona Papers, director Priyadarshan disclosed in a recent conversation with OTTplay that it is a crime thriller.

He also shared that he had been contemplating making the film for the past eight years, but had previously abandoned the idea as he was unable to devise a twist that would capture the attention of the audience.

After coming across a plot twist last year that he believed would keep audiences engaged, the filmmaker decided to take a risk by producing Corona Papers himself, confident in the strength of the script. Priyadarshan's previous production was Prakash Raj's Kanchivaram back in 2008.
