A police officer in Uttar Pradesh's Unnao district was transferred from his post after an image of his family with stacks of cash began to go viral on social media.

The selfie showed the officer's wife and two children posing on a bed amidst a colossal pile of Rs 500 notes, totaling a staggering amount of Rs 14 lakh.

Upon learning about the viral photograph, a senior police official promptly ordered an investigation into the matter. Consequently, Ramesh Chandra Sahani, the station-in-charge, has been transferred to police lines pending further inquiries.

In his defense, Sahani asserted that the photograph was taken on November 14, 2021, during the sale of a family property. Despite his explanation, the senior police officer overseeing the case remains steadfast in pursuing a thorough investigation into the matter.

Providing additional insight into the incident as reported by India Today, the senior police officer stated, "A photograph featuring a station-house officer, his wife, and their children posing with bundles of notes is currently circulating on social media. We have acknowledged the seriousness of the situation, and as a consequence, the officer in question has been transferred to the police line.
