In India, roadside stalls serving tea, coffee and snacks are a familiar sight, particularly near busy office hubs. A content creator recently decided to find out how much a small coffee stall could earn in a day by setting one up outside a corporate office.

Content Creator Sets Up Coffee Stall

Devansh Tyagi documented the experiment and shared the video on Instagram. He set up a makeshift stall with a table, gas stove, instant coffee, milk, cups, utensils and other supplies.

To offer customers what he described as a “cafe-like coffee feel", Tyagi used four different coffee flavours. Each cup was priced at Rs 40.

Explaining the experiment, Tyagi said, “Let’s see how much money can be earned by selling coffee outside the corporate office. I arranged everything in the morning, and at 10 o’clock, my small coffee shop was ready. Then I quickly boiled the milk on the gas, and to give the customers a cafe-like coffee feel, I used four flavours. Then I mixed the coffee and milk well, and my premium coffee was ready.”

Coffee Sales Pick Up During Office Break

The experiment appeared to get off to a good start as employees stepped out during their morning break. Tyagi served the customers himself and also asked them for feedback on the taste.

According to his claim in the video, he sold 40 cups during the first two hours. However, sales slowed down during the afternoon before picking up again in the evening when more employees came out and demand increased.

“I increased the speed of making my coffee, and now I had become a coffee machine. My hands were working at double speed, and the cash was coming non-stop," he mentioned.

Tyagi eventually ran out of coffee stock as demand increased.

450 Cups Sold In A Day?

By the end of the experiment, Tyagi claimed that he had sold around 450 cups of coffee. With each cup priced at Rs 40, the total sales would amount to Rs 18,000.

However, the figure represents revenue and not necessarily profit. The video does not provide a complete breakdown of expenses such as coffee, milk, flavours, gas, cups, utensils, equipment or other costs involved in running the stall.

Therefore, the Rs 18,000 figure cannot be treated as the final earnings or profit from the one-day experiment.

Internet Users Question Coffee Stall Experiment

The video also prompted sceptical reactions from some viewers, with users questioning whether selling 450 cups in a day would be realistic.

One user commented, “Selling 450 cups a day is impossible. We work in corporate offices too, so we know how much actually gets sold.”

Another user commented, "“Brother, you have made the coffee business look very easy in this video, but in reality, it is not that easy…”
