Complaint filed against Kannada producer Prashanth Sambargi over accusations of defamatory tweets

Well-known Kannada producer and social activist, Prashanth Sambargi, is facing trouble over alleged tweets he made against the former leader of JD(S) and former Prime Minister, H.D. Devegowda, and his son, the former Chief Minister, H.D. Kumaraswamy. According to reports, Sambargi made a tweet on March 25, stating that there is a difference between Deve Gowda being a thief and all the other Gowda thieves. He went on to explain that in the first case, Deve Gowda has to file a case, whereas in the second case, anyone from his family can do so. However, he requested people not to take his statement seriously as it was just an example.





The legal wing of JD(S), AP Ranganath, president, JD(S) legal wing filed a complaint against Sambargi with the Cyber Crime Police on the same day. He sought legal action against the producer and Bigg Boss contestant for his alleged tweets against Devegowda and Kumaraswamy, as well as the seer of the Vokkaliga community, which they found offensive. Sambargi has since removed the tweets and posted an apology on social media, stating that his message was taken out of context and that he respects the ex-Prime Minister and Vokkaliga community.



Prashanth Sambargi also participated in the recent "ban halal meat" campaign in Bengaluru, which has caused controversy in the region.
