In a concerning case, an employee shared their ordeal on Reddit after being wrongfully terminated just a day after submitting their resignation. The company, based in India, not only terminated the employee but also demanded three months' salary in return for providing an experience certificate. Additionally, the company threatened to report the project manager for leaving improperly during the background verification process with future employers.

Resignation Rejected, Termination Issued

The Reddit user, known as "Randy31599," explained that they had been facing immense work pressure, which resulted in health issues. This eventually led to their decision to resign, citing medical reasons. The employee, who served as a project manager, requested an early release after eight months of employment but was denied.

"I am a project manager and worked for the company for more than 8 months. Although I received a raise, the work pressure became unbearable. A month ago, I was diagnosed with fatty liver, and shortly after, I contracted chickenpox. When I requested 3 days of leave, my CEO asked me to work from home, but I refused and only partially supported the team," shared Randy31599.

Car Accident and Further Rejection

After a car accident, the employee resubmitted their resignation with details about their injuries, but the company remained unsympathetic and again refused to accept the resignation. The following day, the employee was terminated, and the company escalated the situation by issuing threats.

"They sent a termination email and threatened to report that I left improperly during the BGV process," the user claimed in their post.

Legal Advice and Community Support

Seeking advice from the Reddit community, Randy31599 revealed that the company demanded three months' salary in exchange for an experience certificate. Many users encouraged the employee to consult a lawyer and some advised reaching out to the Ministry of Labour for assistance. One commenter noted, "There is nothing like company did not accept resignation. Once you send the email it's done. You can take it back if they allow you, but once you tell them you have leave, they can't deny that right to you. Get a lawyer, everything else they are saying is bs."
