The Commonwealth Games 2026 closing ceremony will bring the Glasgow edition to an end while marking the beginning of Ahmedabad's journey as host of the 2030 Commonwealth Games. The event will feature cultural performances, the official handover of the Commonwealth Games flag, and a preview of what India has planned for the centenary edition in 2030.

The closing ceremony will be held at the OVO Hydro Arena in Glasgow on Sunday, August 2, 2026. It will begin at 9:00 pm BST, which is 1:30 am IST on Monday, August 3, for viewers in India.

Ahmedabad to officially receive Commonwealth Games baton

A major highlight of the ceremony will be the formal handover of the Host Baton and the Commonwealth Games flag to Ahmedabad. The symbolic ceremony will officially launch preparations for the 2030 Commonwealth Games, which will also mark 100 years since the first edition of the event was held in Hamilton, Canada, in 1930.


The Ahmedabad handover segment will be presented in three acts. It will begin with a tribute to the 150th anniversary of Vande Mataram, followed by a classical jugalbandi featuring sitar maestro Rishabh Rikhiram Sharma and Scottish piper Ross Ainslie. The final act will showcase India's heritage with a special focus on Gujarat.

Commonwealth Games 2026 closing ceremony performers

The ceremony will feature performances by Scottish rock band Simple Minds, along with BEMZ, Cammy Barnes, Sandi Thom, and Australian singer Delta Goodrem.

According to reports, India's cultural showcase will include performances by Shankar Mahadevan, Bhoomi Trivedi, Rishabh Rikhiram Sharma, while reports also suggest that Rashmika Mandanna and Manushi Chhillar will be part of the Ahmedabad handover segment.
