The stage is nearly ready for the Commonwealth Games 2026, with the multi-sport event set to begin in just a few days. A record 74 nations are expected to take part, marking one of the largest editions of the Games.

Venues Hosting the Games

Competitions will be across four major venues: Glasgow International Arena, the Scottish Event Campus, Scotstoun Stadium, and Tollcross International Swimming Centre.

Opening Ceremony Details

The Games will officially commence with the opening ceremony, which will showcase cultural performances along with a grand parade of athletes. The ceremony is scheduled to take place at the OVO Hydro in Glasgow on Thursday (July 23) and will begin at 10:30 pm IST.

Indian Flag Bearers

Olympic medallists Lovlina Borgohain and Mirabai Chanu will carry the Indian flag and serve as baton bearers during the opening ceremony.

Who will perform at the opening ceremony of Commonwealth Games 2026

The ceremony will feature performances by Scottish singer-songwriter KT Tunstall, folk musician Nathan Evans, and the music group Saint PHNX.

The opening ceremony is expected to be attended by King Charles III and Queen Camilla. The King will formally declare the Games open.
