Cockroach found in lungs of 55-year-old man in Kerala: Report

As per a report of Asianet News, the incident happened on February 22. The man then approached the Amritha Hospital in Kochi complaining of breathing issues.

In a scary incident, doctors have found a 4 cm long cockroach inside the lungs of a 55-year-old man in Kerala.

As per a report of Asianet News, the incident happened on February 22. The man then approached the Amritha Hospital in Kochi complaining of breathing issues.

The ENT department at the hospital performed a bronchoscopy and found the inspect in the lungs of the man.


A team of doctors later removed the cockroach from the lungs of the man after eight hours of respiratory arrest, reported the website.

The doctors claimed that the insect entered the lungs of the man through a tube that was pierced in his neck to give him oxygen.

A doctor told the website that finding a cockroach inside one's lungs is very rare and the man could have forgot to close the tube in his neck through which the insect made his way inside.

The man has now been discharged from the hospital.
