In a bold and daring act of protest, members of the "Last Generation" climate activist group in Hamburg and Düsseldorf took their fight against climate change to new heights, causing significant disruptions to flight operations by occupying airport runways.

Inspired by renowned climate activist Greta Thunberg, who gained global attention for her impassioned speech at the United Nations, the "Last Generation" activists have escalated their tactics. Taking civil disobedience to extreme levels, they affixed their hands firmly to the runways using a mixture of concrete and epoxy resin, a construction-grade substance known to harden over time. This symbolic sacrifice serves as a stark reminder of their frustration with the lack of action taken by authorities to combat climate change.

The consequences of their audacious actions became evident as flight operations were severely disrupted, leading to delays and chaos. While the Last Generation Group's methods are controversial, their underlying intentions are genuine - to reduce global carbon emissions by 2030. They argue that governments have shown indifference to their demands and have failed to implement effective measures to address the climate crisis. The group also criticizes the growing number of individuals opting for air travel, contributing to the overall emissions.

The acitvists are demanding that authorities formulate a comprehensive action plan to hit their emission targets, as well as calling for a societal council dedicated to phasing out fossil fuels by 2030.

The Last Generation actvists say their aim is to draw attention to the urgency of dealing with climate change and taking substantial measures against it.

Inaction has long been the biggest fear of the newest generations, with governments slow to enact policy against climate change and with the effects of it increasingly evident, the Last Generation serves as a stark reminder of the need for action.
