The incident happened in northeast Delhi's Dayalpur.
As per reports, an 11-year-old student in Class VI was allegedly subjected to physical abuse by his teacher. The teacher, identified as Sadul Hasan, was later arrested.
The victim's father filed a complaint after his son's health deteriorated following the incident.
The incident came to light on August 12, after a hospital reported the admission of the child, who had been thrashed by a school teacher on August 7. The victim's father shared that the teacher had slapped his son and grabbed his neck, causing swelling and distress. The child's health worsened over the next few days, prompting the father to file a complaint with the police.
DCP (northeast) Joy Tirkey stated, "The teacher slapped the boy and grabbed his neck, which led to swelling. He was sick for two days and later admitted to GTB Hospital. At that time, I didn't want to file any complaint, but when his health deteriorated on August 12, I filed a complaint."
As a response to the incident, the police registered a case under sections 341 (punishment for wrongful restraint) and 323 (punishment for voluntarily causing hurt) of the IPC. The arrested teacher, Sadul Hasan, will now face legal proceedings in connection with the alleged assault on the student.
This unfortunate incident raises concerns about the safety and well-being of students within educational institutions. It highlights the importance of fostering a safe and nurturing environment within schools, ensuring that incidents of this nature are swiftly addressed and appropriate action is taken.

The National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) and the State Commissions for Protection of Child Rights (SCPCRs) have been entrusted with the task of monitoring children’s right to education under Section 31 of the RTE Act, 2009.
